There are many volunteer opportunities at The Pet Connection. The Pet Connection is looking for committed volunteers who want to make a difference in the lives of homeless animals.
Volunteer opportunities include:
Basic animal care: cleaning cat/dog condos, feeding and watering the cats/dogs, brushing the cats/dogs, changing litter boxes, walking the dogs, and much more.
Clerical work: data entry, putting together mailers, working on The Pet Connection's newsletter, filing paperwork, and much more.
Non-shelter work: We always need people to assist us with our laundry. We also have many off-site events for which we need volunteers.
Volunteer and Community Service Orientation on Sunday evenings has been permanently cancelled. If you are interested in performing volunteer work or community service, please complete our Volunteer Questionnaire found on our Resources page. A coordinator will contact you to schedule your initial walk through and meeting prior to your first date of service.
Foster care homes desperately needed!
The foster home program is a critical component of The Pet Connection
and has the capabilities of saving hundreds of animals from death in
area shelters. The foster care network in Kansas City serves as a
direct arm of the shelter extending our reach, letting us take in more
animals. More foster care homes are needed desperately for emergency
situations when animals are scheduled to be put to death, waiting for
transport, or waiting for space in a safe sanctuary like ours. We get
hundreds of requests per day to rescue animals.
Time commitment:
One night, one weekend, one month, or one year. Whenever you can do
it. Foster Homes are needed for weekend stays. Foster Homes are also
needed for elderly/special needs animals until permanent placement can
be found.
Becoming a foster parent can help to make a difference with the
overpopulation problem our community faces today. Help us save even more pets this year. Open your heart and home to an unwanted, abandoned
animal.
By developing Kansas City’s base of foster homes, and
spaying/neutering, we CAN achieve our goal of no more homeless pets in
Kansas City!
