Court ordered community service
Long-term commitments are made. We have been a good resource to keep some out of trouble and a good resource to keep others that suffer from depression out of the hospital.
We give many a purpose, as working
with animals can have a positive outcome. One lady has reported that she
volunteered at a local "traditional" shelter to
help with depression,
but the way they cared for the animals and handled volunteers was
appalling. She left there every time feeling horrible. This is not the case at The Pet Connection!
Our animals are
in great need of a great service, we should have an available tool to
make people feel good about taking care of them. That is what we have
done. We provide a comfortable and normal setting
for people and
animals to positively interact one on one. Our homeless pets
benefit greatly from their companionship and socialization.
The care
the volunteers provide starts the animals on their journey to getting
trained while waiting for their new home. This hands on experience and
our excellent model of care is a great way to pave a path for a better
place tomorrow in Kansas City. I think it's time we raised
the bar.
